Motorola Q Programs
One of the reason's the Motorola Q doesn't support a touchscreen is that it runs Windows Mobile 5 Smartphone Edition, which isn't designed for touchscreen input. The handset would have been far more useful if Motorola had designed the Q to run Windows Mobile Phone Edition, which is the standard Pocket PC version of the OS with phone functionality. The choice to go with the Smartphone Edition of the operating system also means that the Motorola Q doesn't have out-of-the-box Microsoft Office apps, like Word Mobile and Excel Mobile. If you want to view or edit MS Word or Excel documents, you'll have to buy third-party software. Microsoft autoroute 2015. Voice CommandFor voice command, the Motorola Q includes VoiceSignal, the same software that powers the Samsung A900’s excellent voice system. What is unique about VoiceSignal is its ability to comprehend and implement commands right out of the box.
Once you’ve synced contact information with Outlook, just say “CALL CONTACT NAME” and the Q dials the number, no training required. If your contact has a home, work and mobile number, and you want to reach the person, for example, on the road, you would say “CALL CONTACT NAME MOBILE.” You can also dial simply by speaking a number “CALL.” Other features of VoiceSignal include preparing an SMS message for a desired recipient, looking up contact information, and running certain applications. VoiceSignal is one of the best voice-recognition calling applications I’ve come across.Bluetooth PC RemoteAnother interesting piece of software is aforementioned Bluetooth PC Remote. As previously described, this software allows you to use the Motorola Q as a basic remote control for a Bluetooth-enabled PC. The utility has three modes: Desktop, Media Player and PowerPoint. In the largely novelty Desktop mode, you can toggle the Start Menu, move up, down, left and right through menus, change volume, etc.
In Media Player mode, you can control basic playback functions on your PC: play, pause, next track, last track, and volume (In my testing, the remote worked flawlessly with Windows Media Player 10, but ran into some trouble with iTunes). The PowerPoint mode allows you to use the Motorola Q as a presentation remote.Once the Q has been paired with a Bluetooth-enabled PC, reconnects are quick and trouble-free. You can also setup multiple PC connections. While Bluetooth PC Remote works reasonably well with Windows PCs, performance with the Mac OS is a complete disappointment. The software connects to the Mac OS without a hitch, and the OS recognizes the Q as a Bluetooth remote - however none of the commands translate. Hopefully a patch will correct this in time.Media CenterMedia Center is a small and somewhat useless utility that helps you keep track of media files. The Media Center software doesn’t actually “play” anything, it merely lists your media files under three categories headings: Images, Video and Audio.

Watch out, though; files not stored in the Motorola Q’s My Documents folder won’t show up.Task ManagerIf you find that your Motorola Q is moving along at too slow a pace, you’ll want to check the Task Manager. This utility keeps track of all active programs and allows you to shut them down, either one by one or all at once.Master ResetThe Master Reset utility allows you to restore the Motorola Q to factory specs, wiping all data, programs and settings you’ve input since you purchased the smartphone. Usually, such resets are done by way of a hardware button or switch, but with the Q, it’s all software based.Third-Party Software CompatibilityEarly adopters of the Motorola Q may run into a bit of trouble, as many software companies have yet to update their software to accommodate the unusual landscape screen of the Q. Be sure to check with the software author or reseller to confirm Motorola Q compatibility before purchase.
